General Education Requirement Change
Effective with the Radiography Class Starting in May 2024
- A grade of B or better will now be required for the Prerequisite Course BSC 2085C Anatomy and Physiology I or BSC 2085 Anatomy and Physiology I Lecture.
- Previously required Applied Ethics (PHI 2600) has been replaced with any Area IV, Category A Humanities Course for the A.S. degree. Applied Ethics will no longer fulfill the general education requirements of the program.
General Education Requirement Change
Effective with the Radiography Class Starting in May 2023
On March 30, 2022, the State Board of Education approved revisions to Rule 6A-10.02413, Florida Administrative Code, Civic Literacy Competency. The amendment adds the civic literacy competency requirement as a condition of graduation for Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science (A.S./A.A.S.) degree programs.
With the rule amendment, all degree-seeking students will have to meet the civic literacy competency requirement, consistent with the new general education core requirements from House Bill 1507, which passed during the 2021 legislative session. Once effective, students entering A.S./A.A.S. degree programs in 2022-23 and thereafter will be required to demonstrate postsecondary civic literacy competency prior to graduation.
Based on this legislation, effective with the Radiography Class starting in May, 2023, students will be required to take either POS 1041 鈥淎merican Government鈥� or AMH 1020 鈥淯.S. History 1877 to Present鈥� in order to fulfill the new civic literacy competency requirement.
These courses replace the previously required general education courses, PSY 2012 鈥淕eneral Psychology鈥� or INP 1360 鈥淗uman Relations鈥� which no longer meet requirements for the Radiography Program. Therefore, prospective students who have previously completed either of these courses as part of the general education requirements, will now need to successfully pass either POS 1041 or AMH 1020 to meet the new State civic literacy competency and the revised Radiography Program requirements.
The Radiography Program-General Information
The Radiography Program combines didactic and clinical education to prepare the graduate for a career as a radiographer. These health care professionals work in various medical settings producing radiographic images, assisting physicians during advanced radiographic procedures, determining safe exposure limits and providing appropriate patient care during procedures to produce filmless digital images. During the program, students are rotated through several different health care facilities that are located within a 50 mile radius of 甜瓜视频appBradenton. Student clinical rotations are scheduled during the weekdays and can occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., depending on the schedule of the facility.
Upon completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to take the to become a registered radiographer. This registry is accepted in any state and many
foreign countries. Employment opportunities exist in emergency centers, doctors offices,
hospitals and industries. Opportunities exist for all combinations of working hours.
The radiographer works closely with physicians and other members of the health care
team to assure quality medical care. The 甜瓜视频app, Manatee-Sarasota's

Radiography Application Information
The Radiography program application period runs from January 1-January 31.
The Radiography program application period runs from January 1st through the last business day of the month annually. Students will not be able access, view or complete the program application until the application period opens on January 1st. Application Instructions can be accessed by using the following link:

The program does not utilize a wait list. Student must apply/reapply every year. The Radiography program is a limited enrollment program. Completion of all or part of the application requirements does not guarantee acceptance.
All applications & supporting documentation, including evidence of completion of the program's virtual information session or a previous certificate of attendance, must be received by the Radiography Program by 4pm on the last business day of January.
All correspondence including accepted/denied emails will be sent to the students SCF email.
Radiography Information Session
Those wishing to apply to the program must attend a Radiography Program Information Session as a part of the application process. *Attendance is mandatory to be considered for the program.
The intent of a Radiography Program Information Session is to educate prospective students and any interested members of the general public about the radiography program and a career in radiologic technology. Anyone interested in learning more about the program and career are encouraged to attend.
Due to Covid-19, the information session is now being offered virtually. You may attend the virtual information session at any time. At the conclusion of the information session, you will be asked for information to document your attendance and meet one of the requirements of the application process.
